Everyone I know hits a plateau every now and again, including me. When I have a photo shoot coming up and I don't feel camera ready I have to get my body fat down fast! 

To reach my weight loss goals within two weeks I have to mentally prepare my winning game plan first.  My modeling weight loss secrets are actually not secrets at all... It all comes down to hard work in the gym, clean eating and having a positive mental attitude. 

I begin by creating a game plan and eat only power foods that are in my LivFit Power Foods list.  I also create powerful success affirmations and creating a fitness plan to create rock hard body in prep for the photo shoot, it all comes down to self mastery, willpower and discipline.  

Eating healthy foods will uplift your moods and aid in staying on track with your fitness goals.  When you are in control of your mind you are in control of your diet, so think intentionally about your awesome body and how easily you will release the fat stores to obtain a lean healthy physique. 

SUPER FOODS YOUR BODY NEEDS

Eating a healthy diet low in Glycemic Index always puts my metabolism in over-drive and will for you too. I eat small meals every 3 hours consisting of lean protein, complex carbs (before noon), good fats (afternoon) and lots of fresh veggies and salads. My last meal is by 7 pm - ensuring that I go to bed feeling light and well nourished.

A healthy diet is critical to turbo-charge your metabolism. Here is a list of fat burning foods that when used in the right combination shown above will fuel your metabolism even without working out... Of course doing cardio and weight lifting 5 to 6 days a week will sky-rocket you to achieving weight loss success as well as build a sexy, lean physique!

6 Resolutions for a Healthier Body

Often we have a plan to diligently exercise or avoid sugary foods as healthy resolutions next year. But too often the plan failed because it did not stand the temptation to eat ice cream every finished dinner, eating fast food, or prefer to watch a movie at the cinema than to join an aerobics class.

Achieve a healthy New Year resolution is a challenge for most people. The only way that can be achieved, is to make a realistic resolution. If you are a big fan of donuts or croissants, do not vow to not eat a bite too. Be honest with yourself, adjust your lifestyle to your ability. No need to make a resolution to exercise seven times a week when in reality you are too busy to go to the gym.

Instead of making resolutions that are too grandiose, better make plans easier.

Intense meditation will give you supply enough energy to overcome the tough challenges of life every day.

If you're used to doing a myriad of tasks in the office so often off, have a team working to help you get the job done, so all office tasks are not only cost you. Occasionally, ask a sabbatical and travel out of town or country. As much as possible do not undertake tasks beyond your ability.

Training abs is essential for a sexy midsection.  There are several workouts that work fast, your body is your best source of resistance, you don’t need any fancy equipment to get cut abs.  It all comes down to training faithfully at least 5 days a week and eating a clean diet. 

If you train hard then do yourself a favor and eat a diet rich in protein, fresh veggies, fruits and good fats so you will be able to see your hard work pay off when you look in the mirror.

Here are a few of my favorite exercises that hit the lower and upper abdominals and obliques.  As you train focus your mind on the muscles you are working, it will aid in sculpting your desired six pack faster.

For best results do the exercises until failure.  Do 2 to 5 sets of 25 each exercise.  As you continue to train your abs your midsection will become stronger and your endurance will increase as well.  

Always look at training as a gift.  Enjoy your special time alone as you train.  The exercises listed can be done in the comforts of your home, no gym necessary!   

LOWERS AB TRAINING:

1.   REVERSE CRUNCH

Lie on the floor with your hands behind your head, elbows stretched out flat, feet flat, knees together.   Then slowly raise your feet up toward the ceiling bringing your head to your knees, exhale slowly as you go up, pause and then slowly uncurl back to the start position.

2.   V-UP

Lie on the floor, place your arms straight above your head raising your feet and legs to a 45 degree angle, lean back on your  torso as a counterbalance, try to keep you legs straight, pause and return slowly to start position.

3.   SCISSOR KICKS

Lie on the floor face up, place your hands under your lower back and glutes for support.  Lift both legs several inches off the floor keeping them straight with toes pointed.  Smoothly scissor kick your legs 24 times up and down as though you were swimming, then lower legs back down to start position.  Tip:  The higher your legs the easier the lower to the ground your legs are the more challenging it is.

UPPER AB TRAINING:

4.   CRUNCH

Lie on your back and place both hands slightly behind your head with elbows flared out flat and knees bent hip width apart.  Lift your head and upper back off the floor slowly to bringing rib cage and hips closer together, pause, and then return back to start position.  

5.   BALL CRUNCH

Lie on a stability ball so your lower back and midsection is supported. Place hands slightly behind your head and place your feet hip width apart. Curl up on off ball, lifting your head, shoulders and midsection off the ball, slowly.  Pause and then return slowly back to start position.

6.   MASON TWIST

Sit on floor with knees bent and feet hip width apart.  Inner lock your fingers in front of you then lift fee up off the floor several inches keeping your feet together.  Then put palms together and twist side to side touching the floor each time.  Go fast on this exercise, it will hit your core big time, so don’t forget to breath.  Complete 24 times and then return to start position.

OBLIQUES TRAINING:

7.   OBLIQUE CRUNCH

Lie on floor face up with feet flat place both hands lightly behind your head, elbows flared out. Twist at the hip and lie your knees on the floor, then curl up slowly with shoulders off the floor keeping elbows out flat, pause and then return to start position.

8.    CROSSOVER FLOOR CRUNCH
Lie faceup and place both feet on the floor hip width apart.  Place one ankle over the opposite knee.  Place both hands behind head with elbows flared out and flat.  Curl up and across lifting and twisting slowly towards the opposite knee that is up.  Do all reps before starting on the other side.  Return to start position to do the other side.

9.   REACHING CROSSOVER CRUNCH

Lie faceup with feet flat on floor, straighten arms and reach both arms to the outside of your hip over to one side, pause and then lower part way and then reach to the other side. 

CORE TRAINING:

10.                SIDE PLANKS
Lie on your hip on the floor and place your elbow below you with your forearm place directly in front with hand flat on the floor to support you, place hand on your opposite hip.  Raise your hips and waist making your body a straight line from your head to your feet, pause, and then return to start position.  Do all reps on one side before turning over to do the other side.

11.                PLANKS
Face down with your lie on your belly and elbows with hand flat on the floor.  Raise your body straight using your toes for support hold for 20 seconds breathing through it, hold all muscles tight, and then return to start position.  Repeat.

12.                SUPERMAN
Lie on floor on your belly with outstretched arms. Raise your arms and feet up off the ground as high as you can while looking down, hold for 20 to 25 seconds, and then return to start position and repeat.

 Exercise is a gift that only you can give yourself.  Take time to pamper yourself by on honoring your body, doing so you will feel healthier, happier and more empowered.  It's worth setting aside 30 to 60 minutes a day to let you know how much you love and care about you!

Losing weight now days can seem a bit overwhelming with all the plethora of information to chose from.  Weight loss is scientific and therefore can be more simplistic than you many think.

Below are some questions that you get to guess “fact or fiction” about weight loss, see how much you really know about weight loss and what really works in aiding your quest to attaining your ideal goal weight.
  
FACT OR FICTION?

     1. DIETS ARE BEST FOR PERMANENT WEIGHT LOSS

This is fiction. Diets are not a permanent solution for weight loss.  Living a fit lifestyle is.  Living a healthy lifestyle is the only way to maintain a healthy body weight and good health.  Yo-yo dieting is hard on the body and on the mind. 

When people go on diets the focus is deprivation and the mind will do everything in its power to fight back that is why is why once the diet is over the emotions take over and overeating becomes a habit once again.

2.  SLEEP HELPS WITH WEIGHT LOSS

This is fact.  Quality sleep plays an active role in all aspects of having a healthy, lean body.  When you are well rested you will have more energy to train hard and stay active throughout the day, in addition you will naturally crave healthier food choices. 

On the flip side when you are overly tired it causes added stress which causes cortisol levels to increase which is causes “fight or flight” feelings to kick in leaving the body in a state of survival causing added weight gain for added protection.

3.   A DIET WITH FAT WILL MAKE YOU FAT

This is fiction .  However, there’s a catch, not all fat is good fat.  A diet high in Omega 3, 6, 9, flaxseed oil, fish oil, CLA, which are healthy fats, are high in fat but it actually helps you lose weight.

Fats contain twice as many calories per gram than protein and carbohydrates, but adding omega 3 fats like flaxseed oil to your diet will actually promote fat burning. 
These are mono and polyunsaturated fats which are the healthy fats that are more readily available to be used as an energy source than saturated fats.

4.   YOU CANNOT GET LEAN WHEN EATING CARBOHYDRATES

This is Fiction once again. It would be true if you were eating simple carbs such as sugary foods and white flour foods; however, complex carbs is slow digesting and aid in raising the metabolism if eating during the most active part of your day.

Adequate complex carbohydrate intake prevents thyroid hormone levels from dropping.  If you are following a very low carb diet, make sure that you add a high carb load day once a week, typically on Sundays is a good rule of thumb.

5.   DRINKING WATER HELPS BURN FAT

This is fact. Dehydrating causes a drop in metabolic rate.  Often when we get too dehydrated we mistake the need to hydrate our bodies with hunger.  Drinking plenty of water will ensure optimum fat burning, aim for a gallon of purified water a day.

6.   INCREASE PROTEIN INTAKE FOR FAT LOSS

This is a fact. When body is low in amino acids it will go into a catabolic state which means it will break down muscle for the needed amino acid and energy source which makes for a flabby body.

When the body uses your hard earned muscle as an energy source your metabolism slows down because your lean body mass will decrease and that means fat burning as an energy source also slows down.

7.   YOU SHOULD EAT LESS LATER IN THE DAY

This is a fact. Eat your largest meals the first part of the day when you’re most active.  Eating on carbohydrates later in the day tends to promote fat storage because you won’t use the calories for energy.

At dinner time try to keep to high fiber vegetables as a source of carbohydrates. Broccoli, Brussels sprouts green beans and spinach are excellent choices and will satiate your appetite longer.

8. CAFFEINE CAN HELP BURN FAT

This is a fact. Caffeine increases the amount of fat used for energy from your fat cells. Caffeine as an aid to fat burning works best is consumed around 1 hour before you exercise, taking a Green Tea supplement is a great source of caffeine and it has health benefits too.

By following these basic fat findings you will be able to utilize your own energy reserves, aka fat stores, for the energy you need to make it through your tough workouts and still have energy for the rest of your busy day.
