I'm passionate about assisting others in achieving their fitness, weight loss goals & dreams.  I receive emails with questions almost daily from people wanting advice on how to improve their quality of life through diet & exercise.  

Today I received a question regarding how to introduce fitness to a child and what they can do to incorrporate exercise into their lives.  

Here is my reply...

Thank you for your kind words, it's my pleasure to connect with you. Congratulations on your daughter's great success at such a young age.


I wouldn't push her too much into doing serious workouts at the tender age of 12. If she truly has a desire & a passion to workout then you're goals for her are commendable; however, if it's your idea then it may cause body image issues for her in the future, of which, could be detrimental to her health in the long run.

I recommend to my clients to do family fitness activities to encourage children to embrace fitness. As a family go jogging or swimming at your local family fitness center, do fun aerobic videos, pushups, as well as go bike riding for excellent noninvasive activities that improve overall fitness levels at any age. You can even speed-walk the family dog around your neighborhood for additional evening exercise.

Be sure to allow her to be a "kid" and to enjoy yummy treats such as cookies, chips, ice-cream, etc. Lead by example, prepare healthy whole foods and lean meats for the three main meals of the day; breakfast, lunch and dinner. Have an abundance of fresh fruits, nuts and veggies that she loves to eat for her between meal snacks; encourage her to eat often to sustain her energy levels and muscles development. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!


THANKSGIVING

I cherish this time of year, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. The warmth of the energy that fills the air of giving, gratitude and unselfishness is absolutely wonderful! I relish time spent with my loving husband, children, extended family & friends, my heart overflows with love & gratitude, I am richly blessed beyond measure.

I adore gathering with my family as we give thanks for the infinite abundance Heavenly Father has blessed us with. I thoroughly enjoy & savor the delicious feast that's made with love, it fills my heart and soul with delight. It's a glorious day in every way!

It's also a day to forget all the clean eating rules. You don't need to worry about the weight that you'll gain, you can lose it within two weeks (by living the LivFit Lifestyle), unfortunately it comes on much quicker than it comes off. You don't need to worry about the fat grams or the high sugar desserts that you'll most likely pig out on either. Instead, focus on having an attitude of gratitude! Fill your heart with thankfulness to God for your health, loved ones and the bountiful blessings in your life. Doing so will allow your heart to feel more joy, peace & happiness.

A NEW DAY

Tomorrow is a new day, a new beginning... You can regroup and get back on track with your fitness goals.  It's not as difficult a you may think; begin by setting new goals & affirmations, visualize your physique as you wish it to be, exercise 4 to 6 days a week for at least 30 to 60 minutes and eat a small meal every 4 hours consisting of lean protein, good fats (with lunch & dinner) and lots of fresh veggies & salads.

Don't forget the importance of drinking at least a gallon or more of purified water, it will flush out toxins and keep your body well hydrated which will energize your sluggish body after a eating a huge Thanksgiving feast.  If you have Liv Sxinney drink at least 3 to 4 oz for the next 5 days to aid in weight loss, it will detox your cells which will release fat stores easier.

EAT CLEAN & LOSE WEIGHT

LOSE WEIGHT BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS

Would you like to lose 5 to 10 lbs before the Holidays?  Eating clean is 90% of feeling great & the key to losing weight even more so then exercising alone. Don’t get me wrong exercising is essential as well but eating clean will make or break your fitness goals & dreams.   You can do crunches, lift hard, ride the bike until your want to puke but if you turn around and eat junk food or high in fat, refined, processed foods you won't see the results you desperately desire.

HOW TRANSFORM YOUR PHYSIQUE

To transform your body from flabby to fit & tone you don’t have to workout hard 7 days a week you just need to workout at least 30 to 60 minutes 5 to 6 days a week. Building a lean physique is attainable.  To live the LivFit Lifestyle is simply making exercise part of your daily routine, eating healthy, whole foods and keeping a powerful positive attitude. You can lose 5 to 10 lbs before the Holidays! 

Eating whole foods will not only aid in weight loss but you will also have a happier attitude about life, you'll be more patient, you'll have more self esteem & you'll feel empowered!  You'll also find that people will respect and look up to your more because your energy will shift.  When you take time for you and give thanks for all your blessings the world will seem brighter and you'll have more joy in your life.


HOW TO EAT CLEAN

Eating clean is to eat whole foods ~ that means NO white foods, high sodium, high fat, processed foods!  Eat the goodness of life lots of fresh fruits, veggies & nuts.  Eating a small meal every 3 to 4 hours consisting of lean protein, a complex carb, veggies & some good fat will jump start a lazy metabolism.

Drink a lot of water, at least a gallon a day, to assist your weight loss goals. Often times we mistake hunger for thirst.  If you get hungry between meals drink 10 oz of water and walk away form the kitchen.  If you're still hungry after 10 minutes grab a handful of raw almonds or eat an apple to hold you over until your next planned meal.  Drink Liv Sxinney throughout the day as well to detox your cells which will assist your weight loss efforts as well as give you more energy to get through your busy day.

JOURNAL KEEPING IS A MUST

If you’re finding it difficult to eat clean keep a diet journal. It doesn’t have to be fancy just a small notebook that you can keep with you easily. Write down everything you eat and drink, when and how you felt when you ate. Emotional eating can cause us all to gain unwanted weight and stress doesn’t help either. Practice stress management skills to release unwanted feelings by meditating, exercising, keeping a positive mental attitude and gratitude in your heart. Doing this each day you’ll find that you have more peace & happiness in your life and more to be grateful for.

Make eating healthy a high priority ~ and remember if God didn’t make it don’t eat it!

Make the Best of Today

Do you recall a time when you thought, "What a coincidence!" Often what we might have thought of as an amazing coincidence is actually in reality a blessing from above that was perfectly orchestrated as a form of a miracle in our life. 

Can you think of a time when you knew that to be true?

Look back over the last several months of your life, when was the last time you received a tender mercy? What miracle was it?

Joy & happiness comes by having contentment in your heart. How can one be content when everything seems so out of sorts you may ask… It comes by appreciating the little things in life.

Focus on all the blessings that your divine creator has blessed you with. He knows what we need – He knows where we are needed. Each path leads us on a glorious journey, if we are continually grateful for all the good in our life He will continue to bless us with much abundance.

Having an attitude of gratitude will literally open doors where there were only walls… And you will soon find that you will have much more to be grateful for! He knows your heart better than you do. WEIGHT LOSS TIP THAT WORKS!

IS THE SCALE YOUR FRIEND???

Contrary to popular belief, weighing in DAILY will help you reach your weight loss goal much sooner than doing it once a month or not doing it at all.

I used to believe that the scale didn’t matter it was only how my clothes fit… But then I realized the power of the mind and how weighing in daily truly reaches an entirely new subconscious level that made me think twice about what I put in my mouth.


Those that are afraid of the scale have a mental block ~ they’re terrified of what number will be on the scale; so in turn they eat more calories than they should and gain unwanted weight… and before long instead of reaching for your skinny jeans you realize that your fat jeans are much too tight for comfort.

Studies have shown that using the scale daily will indeed help you lose weight faster!

Trust me weighing in daily will change you from having a scared, fat conscious mentality to a "bring it on" weight loss mentality. It’s highly empowering to get on the scale and watch the numbers go down  as you pursue your weight loss goal.

I’m not saying that there’s a certain weight you should be – that’s a personal choice. But if you want to shed a few pounds then stepping on the scale first thing each morning will highly motivate you to stay on track & focused on your fitness & weight loss goals.

What does eating smart mean? Eating clean and practicing portion control. By having lean protein, a complex carb & lots of fresh veggies with each meal you'll find that you'll be satisfied longer without feeling heavy. Remember, protein builds muscle ~ the more muscle you have the higher your metabolic rate which results in burning more calories at rest ~ who doesn’t want that?

Protein alone won’t build lean muscles however, you have to be active throughout the day and exercise daily to maintain lean muscle tissue. Lifting weights is a must to create a lean, shapely physique which in turn burns fat tissue and builds beautiful muscles. And to wrap it up weighing in each day will keep you focused on your gaols to achieving your fitness & weight loss goals.

Eating breakfast is more than important for so many reasons. You'll not only feel better after a 8 hour fast but you'll also give your muscles the needed energy to develop, burn fat and supply your brain with the needed nutrients for clear mental health.

Studies have shown that starting your day off without breakfast can lead to over eating later in the day. The best way to start your day is with an all natural breakfast consisting of protein and a complex carbohydrate. My favorite meal of the day is my breakfast for many reasons. It not only tastes delicious but it’s my fuel to get me through my busy day.

Carol’s Favorite Oatmeal Breakfast

1/8 cup steal cut oats
1/8 cup whole oats
Small handful of whole wheat
½ cup water

Bring to a boil then put on medium heat and ad ½ cup Vanilla Almond Milk

Mix in 1 scoop Vanilla Protein Powder
1 tsp cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg

Stir and enjoy!

Oatmeal has many health benefits, not only is it a low glycemic food which process slowly in the digestive track but it may oatmeal also help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease. The soluble fiber in oatmeal slows down your digestive process, which gives you sustained fuel for energy and you'll feel full longer. Oatmeal combined with protein also can help you lose weight. New research suggests that eating oatmeal may reduce the risk for type 2 diabetes too.  Oatmeal is also a great comfort food and warms not only your inside but your emotions as well.

That’s just a few reasons to start your day off right to ensure your metabolism is on kicked in to turbo charge. And remember to eat every 3 to 4 hours through out the day to maintain a high metabolism to create the body of your dreams!

DIET SURVIVAL GUIDE FOR BBQ SEASON

It's hard to believe that summer is almost here. I love this time of year and I love everything about summer, the warmth of the sun, the sound of children playing outside and of course the many family and friend get-togethers ~ I seriously love it all!

With summertime comes fun, delicious BBQ’s which can mean unwanted weight gain as well… Here is a plan for diet success with tips on how to maintain a swimsuit ready physique while enjoying all of the wonderful backyard parties…

 PLAN FOR SUCCESS 

Be sure to plan your meals ahead of time so you won't gain weight at all his summer. In fact you can continue to lose fat and gain muscle by being prepared and focusing on your fitness and weight loss goals daily. By eating clean 85 percent of the time you'll be able to maintain a lean body. Be sure to eat your biggest meal of the day the first part of the day and the smallest meal at the end of the day. Here is a great guideline to keep you on the road to success by following a healthy eating plan. Remember if your fail to plan you plan to fail, so be prepared and plan ahead.

Eating every 3 to 4 hours will help you maintain a high metabolism while building muscle along with fat burning for energy.  But eating the right foods you will have success... However if you don't eat the right combination of foods you won't see your desired results.  Here's a sample of a LivFit menu to help you better understand which foods you need to accomplish your fitness goals.

Breakfast: Make this the biggest meal of the day consisting of lean protein and complex carbohydrates. Example ~ 1 slice whole grain toast, 3 egg whites & 1 whole egg scrambled

Mid-Morning Snack: A whey protein shake with ½ cup frozen berries & light almond milk

Lunch: Grilled chicken sandwich, salad & veggies, (1 Tbs Omega oil on salad)

Late Afternoon Snack: A whey protein bar, veggies

MAKE TIME FOR EXERCISE

You have to make exercise a high priority in your life if you want to make it through all of your family get-together’s without gaining weight.

Do 30 minutes of interval training cardio at least 3 to 4 times a week and weight training at least 3 times a week. Weight training is imperative for sculpting a lean body that you can be proud of.

YOU CAN DO IT!
This summer plan for success, imagine yourself fit and thin and then follow through with a successful diet and exercise plan. Plan your meals in advance. And before any social gatherings imagine what you’re going to eat and if you’re finished eating imagine saying, "No thank you, I'm not hungry." When offered another yummy dessert.

By following these survival tips & tricks you'll be physically and mentally prepared to accomplish your fitness goals while enjoying the festivities of summertime with you loved ones and friends! =)

Diet is 85% of Fitness Success

How many people do you know that go to the gym everyday but never change? It’s because their diet does not support their fitness goals. I can’t stress enough about the importance of proper nutrition. It’s imperative to eat small clean wholesome meals every 3 to 4 hours. Eating the right fuel is 85% of the equation. You can do sit-ups and push ups all day long but you won’t be able to uncover those sexy abs until you burn the fat that’s covering them, and that comes from proper nutrition along with regular daily exercise.

If you want to be ripped before summer then commit today to working out at least 5 days a week - no excuses.  Then eat clean whole foods -  that means stay away from canned, boxed or processed foods of any kind.  Be sure to drink plenty of water, at least 60 to 80 oz and eat protein with every meal & snack.  And have your last meal of the day by 7 pm - after that consider the kitchen closed!
 
Set attainable goals, believe in yourself, stay true to your commitment to fitness, follow through, focus on loving you each day and before you know it you'll begin to see your body & life transform in miraculous ways!

THE GIFT OF GRATITUDE

The other day my dear friend emailed me asking for advice, she was feeling a bit low and was in need of a little TLC on how to get out of the emotional rut she was in... I gladly shared with her how to shift from a sad mood to a happy, joyful state of being.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed, depressed or feel any negative emotion for that matter life can seem more difficult and frustrating. You’ll have less energy and you’ll be more fatigued than usual. By choosing to live in an Attitude of Gratitude you can literally shift your energy level from being pessimistic to optimistic. Doing so you will shift your energy frequency to a higher empowering level which in turn you’ll feel better and have tons more energy to get you through your busy day. You’ll also eat healthier, you’ll have the desire to exercise more and you’ll be much more fun to be around.

BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS

To achieve any goal & dream you must believe in YOU & allow love, joy & abundance to flow to you freely!

I recently adopted the horse of my dreams, a magnificent Friesian! Alexander The Great aka Xander. Before I found him I visualized daily and gave thanks to Heavenly Father for allowing me to have my dream horse. I was passionate about finding him and felt love and gratitude in my heart throughout the day for all the many gifts& blessings in my life. And before I knew it a miraculous journey unfolded and I'm proud to say that my sweet boy came into my life much easier and sooner than I had anticipated.

I know without a doubt that he was meant to be mine! But had I doubted and gave into the negative self-talk he would not be in my back yard right now. Not only did my dream come true but best of all I made a new best friend, Nancy. She's an eternal friend and an absolute angel. Because I stayed focused on being positive and having an Attitude of Gratitude my dreams literally came true.

You too can have your dreams come true! We all want to live an abundant life in all areas including health, wealth & true happiness. Here is my reply to my friend coaching her on how to shift her negative emotions to joyful, life-loving emotions.  She soon after sent me a loving email of thankfulness expressing how much doing these simple acts of Gratitide helped her tons.

Bless your heart, I understand your feelings… it’s easy to get down and discouraged when you’ve been through a lot emotionally and with your family’s unfortunate news that just compounds the “blues” feelings.


To give you a happy boost each day try these simple steps of gratitude…


Before you get out of bed think about all the gifts in your life and then Thank Heavenly Father over and over for all the blessings in your life and then kneel for your morning prayer. And then throughout the day focus on all the glorious things in the world including your beautiful body and family. Then again at night go to bed with gratitude and give thanks for all the beautiful blessings that you enjoyed that day.


Also, be sure to get adequate sleep. A well rested body is less likely to get depressed as easily, that means early to bed... Be sure to give yourself plenty of time between firesides to rest and renew, especially with your precious family. And then as always try to eat healthy whole foods, it will give your body the nutrients it needs to ensure you have the energy your busy schedule requires.


Doing these simple acts of gratitude will help you get out of a rut and it will help you open your spirit more to receiving more joyful experiences. Embrace life with an Attitude of Gratitude and life will embrace you in all areas in return.
